This century old landmark has returned to its roots.  Built in 1892 and designed by architect Willis G. Hale, the property served as a luxury apartment house for 8 years before it was sold to Metropolitan Hotel Company in 1900.  Later the property changed owners to George Baker later known as Father Divine, head of the Divine Peace Mission Movement.  Originally dismissed as a cult, the Peace Mission Movement served as a basis for social reform in the early civil rights movement era.  The property served as the center for the organization's activities from 1948 to 1998.  Passed on by multiple developers, the property eventually was fully reinstated to its former glory by developer Eric Blumenfeld who purchased the property for $1.5 million.  Today you can rent a 1 or 2 bedroom luxury apartment inside this historical landmark.  Prices range from $1,500 to $3,100 a month, leaving you with enough to splurge on these loafers.
